El actual perfeccionamiento del sistema de gestión del proceso de formación reclama innovar en cuanto a la concepción y el estilo de desarrollar este proceso evaluativo, para enmendar insuficiencias que afectan la calidad de sus resultados. Precisamente, este artículo tiene el objetivo de analizar referentes teóricos que permiten ampliar la visión normativa y enriquecer, desde el punto de vista científico, el concepto y el modo de ejecutarlo, de modo que funcione como un sistema coherente, con un adecuado balance en sus dimensiones y orientado a contribuir al cumplimiento de los objetivos de cada año académico. Solo de este modo se puede convertir en expresión de la calidad en la formación de un profesional competente y comprometido con la sociedad, con los niveles de excelencia requeridos.Palabras clave: Evaluación, evaluación integral, estudiante universitario, educación superior. ABSTRACTThe process of integral evaluation of the student is considered one of the most complex tasks in Cuban higher education. The current improvement of the management system of the formation process need a change in terms of conception and in the style of developing this evaluative process, in order to amend some insufficiencies that affect the quality of the results. Precisely, this article has the objective of analyzing theoretical references that allow to enlarge the normative vision and to enrich, from the scientific point of view, the concept and the way of executing it, so that it works as a coherent system, with a suitable balance in their dimensions and oriented to contribute to the fulfillment of the objectives of each academic year. Only in this way it can become an expression of quality in the formation of a competent professional, engaged with the society and with the required levels of excellence.Keywords: Evaluation, integral evaluation, undergraduate student, higher education.
