VIH, un reto a la inteligencia

Resumen

Las cifras de infectados con el VIH desde su descubrimiento en 1983, solo tiende e aumentar. En la segunda mitad del siglo XX, las investigaciones sobre esta pandemia superan incluso las del cáncer y la competencia entre la ciencia y el virus continúa. En este tiempo deja un episodio doloroso en la existencia humana. En estos momentos se cuentan con medicamentos que prolongan la vida de los infectados. En las estadísticas la mayor cantidad de casos los aportan los HSH. En Cuba a pesar de los programas de prevención la realidad indica que no son suficientes para eliminar la epidemia. El sistema de salud cubano atiende gratuitamente estos casos como otros y sume el costo del tratamiento de todos los pacientes. En estos momentos el VIH deje de ser un problema médico y adquiere un enfoque social y de responsabilidad individual. El reto no es a la ciencia sino a la inteligencia humana.

ABSTRACT

The numbers of infected with the HIV from his discovery in 1983, only it tends and to increase., In the second half of the 20th century the investigations on this pandemic overcome even those of the cancer and the competition between the science and the virus continues. In this time it leaves a painful episode in the human existence. In these moments they rely on medicines that they prolong the life of the infected ones. In the statistics the major quantity of cases they contribute the HSH. In Cuba in spite of the programs of prevention the reality indicates that they are not sufficient to eliminate the epidemic. The Cuban system of health attends free to these cases as others and adds the cost of the treatment of all the patients. In these moments the HIV stops being a medical problem and he acquires a social approach. The challenge is not to the science but to the human intelligence
