Features of the discussion method in the training of students in the context of distance learning

Resumen

The article considers online discussion as an interactive learning method in the conditions of distance learning. The essence of discussion and the stages of its organization are described. The main objective of discussion in distance learning is defined as the stimulation of interest in learning and the involvement of various viewpoints in an active discussion of the stated problems. The key role in ensuring the efficiency of a discussion is identified. The article develops a model for organizing asynchronous online discussions on the Moodle platform, highlighting the sequence of stages and their content. An experimental study of the use of the discussion method in the training of students in distance learning conditions is carried out. Based on the results of the methodological experiment, conclusions are drawn about student interest in online discussions. The authors conclude that the interest of students of different specialties in asynchronous online discussions varies, and the greatest interest is demonstrated by linguistics students. Nevertheless, the differences in student interest in online discussions by groups (specialties) are more likely attributable to subjective factors, which do not affect the overall picture in a major way.

ABSTRACT

El artículo considera la discusión en línea como un método de aprendizaje interactivo en las condiciones del aprendizaje a distancia. Se describen la esencia de la discusión y las etapas de su organización. El objetivo principal de la discusión en el aprendizaje a distancia se define como la estimulación del interés por aprender y la participación de varios puntos de vista en una discusión activa de los problemas planteados. Se identifica el papel clave para asegurar la eficiencia de una discusión. El artículo desarrolla un modelo para organizar debates en línea asíncronos en la plataforma Moodle, destacando la secuencia de etapas y su contenido. Se realiza un estudio experimental del uso del método de discusión en la formación de estudiantes en condiciones de educación a distancia. Con base en los resultados del experimento metodológico, se extraen conclusiones sobre el interés de los estudiantes en las discusiones en línea. Los autores concluyen que el interés de los estudiantes de diferentes especialidades en las discusiones asincrónicas en línea varía, y el mayor interés lo demuestran los estudiantes de lingüística. Sin embargo, las diferencias en el interés de los estudiantes en las discusiones en línea por grupos (especialidades) son más probablemente atribuibles a factores subjetivos, que no afectan el panorama general de manera importante.
