Abstract

The present work offers a contribution to the discussion of research seedbeds as a modality that contributes to the development of the scientific research activity of university students, even more so when one of the fundamental missions of universities is to enhance the competencies of their students. investigations and consequently their optimal professional performance in society. Based on the reflections made by different authors on the subject, it can be concluded that the research hotbeds have been consolidated in Latin America, where some 10,000 hotbeds already operate in more than 700 institutions that extend across more than 9 countries, and they are being formed. as a learning community, for research purposes, for innovation and solution to problems that arise in practice, and with an accentuated interdisciplinary approach. The authors' expectation is that these reflections contribute to promoting in Cuban universities, and specifically at the University of Matanzas, the adoption and creative development of research seedbeds as one of the alternatives to improve student scientific research activity.
