Education and promotion of oral health in girls and adolescents in Ibarra
Abstract
To achieve an increase in people's quality of life, the oral health and hygiene of individuals cannot be overlooked. Instilling habits at an early age that favor the prevention of oral diseases is the task of dental professionals and families. In the case of girls and adolescents in foster homes, preventive work must be increased. The objective of this research is to establish preventive measures to maintain oral hygiene in girls from the "Mercedes de Jesús Molina" Children's Home in Ibarra. To this end, information was collected on the current state of oral knowledge and hygiene of the 15 selected girls. The research was descriptive, non-experimental and cross-sectional with a quantitative approach. The level of knowledge that girls have about oral hygiene was identified, which is basic and needs to be reinforced. Preventive measures were established to maintain the oral health of girls, and for support personnel as the main responsible for girls' health education.
