Study of the satisfaction of the psychological needs of students of Health Sciences
Abstract
Mental health is essential to raise people's quality of life. Satisfying the psychological needs of individuals, and especially university students, is a challenge for universities and for society. The objective of this research is to determine the level of satisfaction of psychological needs in students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, in Chimbote. The research was descriptive-propositional. The sample consisted of 302 students, to whom a survey with 17 items was applied, in which the theory of self-determination and an adaptation to the scale of basic psychological needs were taken into account. The results showed that 49.3% of the participants had high or medium psychological needs. Actions were proposed from the individual, family, institutional and social points of view to mitigate the difficulties that prevent the psychological needs of students from being fully satisfied.
