Ethical challenges of criminal hearings as educational means
Abstract
Live streaming of criminal hearings stands out as an innovative practice in legal education. Students benefit from learning about criminal procedures, developing observation and analytical skills, and understanding the application of legal principles in real cases. The study addresses ethical challenges associated with the educational use of criminal hearings, highlighting the need to balance transparency with the protection of fundamental rights. A qualitative methodology is used with comparative, deductive and analytical analysis. They highlight the educational benefits, but also ethical challenges that broadcast criminal hearings entail. The importance of ethically addressing challenges such as sensationalization and witness intimidation is underlined. Finally, the need to guide students on responsible observation, avoid sensationalization and protect privacy is highlighted, contributing to the enrichment of legal education and understanding of the judicial system.
