Prevalencia en el cuidado dental e higiene de los estudiantes en tiempo de cuarentena

Abstract

La pandemia por el COVID-19 provocó que el mundo entero entre a la etapa de aislamiento y confinamiento por un largo periodo, y a su vez trajo consecuencias importantes, una de ellas afectó la salud bucal ya que era un riesgo de contagio asistir a un consultorio dental, y la mala higiene aumento el índice de caries dentales. El objetivo de este artículo es recalcar la importancia de los cuidados e higiene para prevenir las caries dentales en estudiantes de nivel cero a tercer nivel durante el periodo de cuarentena de la carrera de odontología de UNIANDES. Se realizó encuesta a los estudiantes de primero a tercer semestre, y se demostró que las visitas al odontólogo fueron de 40% en hombres y el 60% en mujeres y que mayoría de los estudiantes en ambos sexos asistieron al odontólogo en tiempos de COVID por lo tanto, en el confinamiento las cifras de caries en la población que se estudió son bajas con esto nos damos cuenta la buena higiene bucal.

ABSTRACT

The COVID 19 pandemic caused the whole world to enter the stage of isolation and confinement for a long period, and in turn brought important consequences, one of them affected oral health since it was a risk of contagion to attend a dental office, and poor hygiene increased the rate of dental caries. The objective of this article is to emphasize the importance of care and hygiene to prevent dental caries in students from level zero to level three during the quarantine period of the dental career of UNIANDES. A survey was made of students from the first to the third semester, and it was shown that visits to the dentist were 40% in men and 60% in women and that the majority of students of both sexes attended the dentist during the COVID period; therefore, in the confinement period the caries figures in the population studied were low, which shows good oral hygiene.
