Un canto de Cienfuegos a La Habana: formación del gusto musical de Paulina Álvarez (1911-1928)

Abstract

El presente texto es resultado de una indagación teórica y metodológica para analizar la influencia que ejerció la región histórica de Cienfuegos y La Habana entre 1911- 1928 en la formación del gusto musical de Paulina Álvarez. La búsqueda de esta relación nos conduce a explorar algunos indicadores fundamentales que a decir de Venegas permiten definir una región histórica. Todos, en su conjunto, nos permitirán comprender sus particularidades, el desarrollo alcanzado y a su vez cómo este propio desarrollo ejerció especial influencia en la conformación del gusto musical en Paulina Álvarez, la Emperatriz del Danzonete. Los fundamentos teóricos que se utilizaron responden a la teoría sociológica de Pierre Bourdieu, sobre todo aquella relativa a la producción social del gusto y el consumo de bienes culturales.

 ABSTRACT

This text is the result of a theoretical and methodological investigation to analyze the influence exerted by the historical region of Cienfuegos and Havana between 1911-1928 in the formation of Paulina Álvarez's musical taste. The search for this relationship leads us to explore some fundamental indicators that, according to Venegas, allow us to define a historical region. All of them, as a whole, will allow us to understand their particularities, the development achieved and, in turn, how this development itself exerted a special influence on the conformation of musical taste in Paulina Álvarez, the Empress of the Danzonete. The theoretical foundations that were used respond to the sociological theory of Pierre Bourdieu, especially that related to the social production of taste and the consumption of cultural goods.
