Integration of a seminar on mass surveillance and fundamental rights in the curriculum of Computer Engineering in Ecuador
Abstract
The crisis of violence and insecurity in Ecuador emphasizes the urgency of addressing the issue comprehensively. There is a delicate balance between the right to privacy and mass surveillance in the technological era. This article proposes the integration of a seminar on "Mass Surveillance and Fundamental Rights" for the subject of Computer Security in the Systems Engineering program. It focuses on the ethical and technical training of students, considering the rapid technological evolution. The methodology includes literature review, curriculum analysis, consultations with experts, and content development. The results of the applied questionnaire highlight the relevance of ethics and legislation in education. The proposal strengthens the capacity of systems engineers to address ethical and technical challenges, contributing to academic and ethical development in a fair digital environment.
