Proposed instrument for the evaluation of pre-professional practices in journalism students
Abstract
The training of journalism students must adapt to the reality of the profession and the reinvention this field has undergone with the emergence of information and communications technology. In these training spaces, special attention should be paid to pre-professional practices, where students experience the reality of the profession and can draw parallels with what they have learned in academia. In this sense, this study proposes an instrument to evaluate the practice of these students, which was validated by five experts and evaluated by calculating reliability through cronbach's alpha. After sending version of the questionnaire to the experts, they made observations on 10 of the 22 items, suggested merging two items, and added questions about entrepreneurship and digital content creation. The questionnaire was then comprised of 23 items containing general information and the following subcategories: management, professional cultures, feedback, skills and abilities, and communication entrepreneurship and digital content creation. Of these items, 18 contain a likert scale. Alpha was calculated for these items after a pilot test was administered to 28 students. In the theoretical discussion of the questionnaire's subcategories, the need for better relations between the university and the media, as well as the inclusion of more activities and spaces for multimedia journalism and digital content creation, stands out.
