Abstract

ABSTRACT
This work presents a linguistic and stylistic analysis of the letter written by the Apostle on March 25, 1895 in Montecristi. It is his goodbye upon his departure to the battle fields. The conscious or unconscious linguistic structures are in correspondence to the idea he wanted to transmit. Marti makes a reiterated use of second person's pronoun- you- as an example of the deep respect and veneration he feels for her. In addition to the plucking- I- You- he uses sacrifice and duty as key nouns, relating them with the opposition first-person-second person of singular. As a peculiarity of his style aphoristic sentences are present. A reiterated use of the extra sentences link like cohesive resource to baste the idea of every segment of text with all what had been previously said.
