Impact of corporate social responsibility in the digital environment of Higher Education institutions in Ecuador
Abstract
Corporate social responsibility is crucial due to its link with governance, being essential in institutions globally. This research addresses the impact of CSR in the digital environment of higher education institutions in Ecuador, focusing on developing socially responsible digital ecosystems according to international standards. Mixed methodology was used to understand the relationship between CSR and the digital environment, finding a significant correlation between the perception of the importance of the digital ecosystem and CSR in Ecuadorian HEIs. It also revealed a generalized perception of insufficient digital protection and digital skills development, highlighting the need to strengthen policies and regulations. Most see CSR as a mechanism to avoid digital exclusion, highlighting the need for greater awareness of CSR practices. It is therefore urgent to improve education in social responsibility to prepare students for a safe digital environment in Ecuador.
