Key elements for the development of ethics in teaching in Higher Education

Authors

Abstract

Ethics is a fundamental factor for the comprehensive education of students, academic quality and the construction of a responsible university community committed to society. University professors have a commitment to society, promoting knowledge, research and innovation for the common good. The objective of this study is to identify the elements that make up the pedagogical ethical profile of university teachers in Latin America. The research was generated from a documentary descriptive methodological perspective with bibliographic design, scrutinizing a population of 20 scientific articles. Five key elements were identified: the ethical competencies of university teachers, fundamental values in university teaching work, ethics and teacher-student relationships, ethical challenges in university teaching, and the formation and development of the pedagogical ethical profile. University professors are figures of reference for students, so their ethical behavior directly influences their comprehensive education. The pedagogical ethical profile is the pillar that supports the educational quality and the comprehensive training of students.
