Abstract

This study analyzes the feasibility of implementing an intelligent attendance control system in an educational institution in Guayaquil, given the limitations of traditional manual methods, which are prone to errors that hinder effective attendance management. In this context, the adoption of intelligent access systems emerges as an advanced solution, enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and security in the attendance registration process. A quantitative descriptive research design was applied in a prominent educational unit in Guayaquil, using structured surveys administered to a sample of 137 participants (103 students, 25 teachers, and 10 administrative staff), selected through simple random sampling. The findings reveal that most respondents perceive deficiencies in the current system and express strong interest in adopting technologies such as QR codes to optimize the process. The study also identified the need for robust privacy policies to ensure data protection. The research concludes that the implementation of an intelligent attendance control system is feasible, with potential to improve record accuracy, reduce unauthorized absences, and streamline administrative management, although strategies are required to address resistance to change during its implementation. The recommendations may be extrapolated to other institutions interested in exploring similar technologies, underscoring their applicability in the educational field
