Abstract
This article explores the crucial dimensions of education in supporting and understanding people with catastrophic illnesses, highlighting its ability to foster empathy about this condition. The research focuses on designing and implementing an educational program to increase community empathy toward those with catastrophic illnesses. Using a qualitative and quantitative methodological approach, an experimental study is carried out with a diverse sample that guarantees representative results. Preliminary results highlight challenges in key areas such as health, employment and the economy for those with catastrophic illnesses. Lack of understanding in the work environment and significant financial burdens underscore the need for targeted interventions. The discussion highlights the importance of combating stigmatization through educational programs that challenge misperceptions.
