SER+CAFÉ: a model for heritage education with a socio-emotional focus in the Colombian Coffee Cultural Landscape

The cultural landscape as a heritage category encompasses a diversity of manifestations and specific techniques for sustainable land use, characteristics of the natural environment, and a spiritual-emotional relationship with nature. The Colombian Coffee Cultural Landscape, a World Heritage Site inscribed on the World Heritage List for its exceptional universal values, finds in educational institutions an important ally for its conservation through heritage education with a socio-emotional focus. This approach highlights the importance of heritage, as well as the role of emotions and community participation in its appreciation and preservation, embedded within the process of heritagization. The research focuses on a mixed-method study with a descriptive/explanatory design, based on the use of empirical and theoretical methods, which, combined with the authors' experience, allowed for the proposal of a model as an alternative for heritage education with a socio-emotional focus for educational actors in the Coffee Cultural Landscape: the SER+CAFÉ Model. This innovative model contributes to the need for continuous training of teachers and administrators in this heritage context. The model integrates the spheres of human development (personal, social, and transcendent) into five dimensions (Conscious, Managerial, Relational, Collective, and Transcendent) with content specific to coffee culture. It includes experiential workshops for its implementation, aimed at strengthening the appropriation of local heritage with greater awareness of the values of the Coffee Cultural Landscape and a renewed sense of belonging and motivation.
