Competencias profesionales presentes en la atención a pacientes hipertensos en tiempos de COVID-19

Resumen

La COVID-19 modificó los estilos de vida de todas las personas alrededor del mundo. Muchos pacientes con enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles dejaron de visitar los centros de salud por temor al contagio en Ecuador. El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar las competencias profesionales que presentan estudiantes y docentes en un estudio sobre la adherencia a tratamientos farmacológicos y no farmacológicos en tiempos de pandemia por COVID-19 en el Centro de Salud El Playón de San Francisco, provincia de Sucumbíos. Para ello fue necesario realizar un diagnóstico que permitiera identificar factores de riesgo que presentaban los pacientes objeto de estudio. Se identificó una baja adherencia al tratamiento a pacientes con hipertensión arterial, el 36% de encuestados manifestaron nunca haber asistido a control médico para valoración de enfermedad. Se determinaron los principales elementos que no deben faltar en estrategias preventivas en acciones como visita domiciliaria, la educación sobre la importancia de adherencia al tratamiento para la salud del paciente, entre otros. Las competencias profesionales con mayor presencia fueron las competencias de comunicación, pedagógicas y de educación, clínicas de cuidado al paciente, de investigación.

ABSTRACT

COVID-19 changed the lifestyles of all people around the world. Many patients with chronic noncommunicable diseases stopped visiting health centers for fear of contagion in Ecuador. The objective of this research was to determine the professional skills presented by students and teachers in a study on adherence to pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments in times of the COVID-19 pandemic at the El Playón Health Center in San Francisco, Sucumbíos province. For this, it was necessary to make a diagnosis that would allow the identification of risk factors presented by the patients under study. Low adherence to treatment was identified in patients with arterial hypertension, 36% of respondents stated that they had never attended a medical check-up to assess the disease. The main elements that should not be missing in preventive strategies in actions such as home visits, education on the importance of adherence to treatment for the patient's health, among others, were determined. The professional competencies with the greatest presence were communication, pedagogical and educational competencies, patient care clinics, and research.
