Education and tradition in conflict resolution based on cultural norms in Afro-Ecuadorian communities
Abstract
The application of justice in some countries whose cultures have been formed by the fusion of various cultures due to colonization and migration, is an issue to be addressed by the States and the educational system that is developed in them. In Ecuador, Afro-Ecuadorian communities have their traditions and culture, where the resolution of problems and conflicts that arise is essentially based on them. In these communities, educational institutions and the personnel who work in them must play a leading role in the preservation of culture and traditions, but at the same time, in the way justice is applied. Education personnel have the means to introduce, through educational actions, the influence of the legislation in force in the country, with due respect for the traditions and culture of the community, through the understanding and collaboration of the main community figures and leaders. The bibliographic review that was carried out in conjunction with the application of surveys, made it possible to show that although there are norms of respect by the Ecuadorian state, the form of application of justice to solve problems and conflicts in these communities, there is still a lack of their total recognition and support. It is necessary to apply more concrete actions with the help of education personnel, for the development of greater updating of these forms of conflict resolution, coupled with the conservation of cultural identity in communities and their traditions.
