Abstract

Emotional intelligence is a human ability that allows the successful management of expressing emotions to generate feelings that facilitate thinking and a person's behavior in different areas of daily life. Unfortunately, the global pandemic of COVID-19, the current insecurity conditions, and the social crisis in the world cause emotional intelligence to weaken, especially in the integral formation of adolescents. The research objective was to determine the incidence of Spotify use on the emotional intelligence of higher basic education students. The methodology had three phases: i) The initial state of emotional intelligence was diagnosed using the Mesquite test. ii) A podcast repository was created using Spotify. iii) The retest was applied after using the podcast repository for five months. It was concluded that the podcasts reinforced the participants' emotional intelligence, and factors such as empathy, emotional communication, distress, and sadness were also assessed.
