Abstract

This study is a systematic documentary review aimed at analyzing experiences promoting healthy lifestyles through community education in rural contexts in Latin America, with a special focus on their applicability to the El Cambio Parish, Ecuador. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach and PRISMA guidelines, reviewing 118 academic documents between 2020 and 2024 in databases such as Scopus, SciELO, Redalyc, PubMed, and Google Scholar, from which 30 articles were selected according to rigorous inclusion criteria. The use of methodologies such as Freire's popular education, the training of local promoters, and the integration of ancestral knowledge strengthen processes of empowerment and collective health. The results are organized into four categories: healthy eating, physical activity, substance use prevention, and self-care. The evidence reveals that participatory educational interventions, adapted to the local culture and designed with an intersectoral approach, achieve greater adherence, sustainability, and behavioral transformation in rural communities.
