Considerations on ethics and information and communication technologies in educational contexts

Experts from different countries and institutions such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization have raised the challenge of using information and communication technologies in educational institutions, which must address, as a priority, the ethical repercussions they entail. The authors of this paper are interested in offering their considerations in response to this challenge. Based on the literature review, research has been developed to answer the question: what references contribute to guiding the ethical use of information and communication technologies in educational contexts? The paper summarizes the results of the study that included the analysis of sources contained in the Network of Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal database, mainly. Concepts and topics associated with the binomial ethics and information and communication technologies were identified; awareness of the importance of the ethical dimension of information and communication technologies in educational contexts; principles of action that should guide the ethical use of information and communication technologies in educational contexts; use of technologies based on massive data; ethics and biometric identification technologies; ethics and artificial intelligence and ethical challenges for teachers in the current context.
