This article conducts a qualitative documentary analysis on the use of Benito Juárez scholarships from the perspective of high school students in Mexico. These scholarships represent crucial financial support to facilitate educational continuity and reduce school dropout rates in vulnerable contexts. However, the study emphasizes that academic success depends not only on financial support but also on familial, emotional, and social factors. Family dysfunction and a lack of emotional support negatively affect academic performance and retention, and it is therefore recommended that scholarships be complemented with psychoeducational interventions that strengthen socioemotional skills and family communication. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of integrating this policy within the educational framework of the New Mexican School, which promotes inclusion, equity, and comprehensive education. The study also highlights the need to continually evaluate the program to ensure its equity, efficiency, and relevance, taking into account the diversity of student backgrounds. Finally, the study emphasizes the value of social and human capital as key elements for enhancing the positive impact of scholarships and improving educational outcomes in upper secondary education.
