Abstract

The use of mini-implants for maxillary molar distalization in patients with skeletal Class II malocclusion has proven to be an effective technique in orthodontics. However, effective integration of hands-on learning in this technique still faces significant challenges. The aim of this research is to evaluate how learning-by-doing can optimize the training of orthodontists in the use of mini-implants. The methodology consisted of a comprehensive literature review and consultation with experts, including studies of recognized databases and relevant articles on the subject. The results indicate that hands-on training enables orthodontists to acquire crucial skills to effectively select and apply mini-implants, maximize mass traction, and perform continuous treatment monitoring. The findings highlight the importance of a personalized patient assessment, management of biomechanics, and patient cooperation for treatment success. Hands-on training is essential to address these issues and improve clinical outcomes.
