Socio-emotional skills and values education in adolescent secondary school students

Abstract

21st century societies face great challenges that motivate educational systems to rethink the training of responsible citizens committed to transforming social realities for the benefit of the great majority, for which education in values ​​from adolescence through teaching-learning processes that articulate “learning to do”, “learning to be”, “learning to be a person” and “learning to live together” and understand socio-emotional skills as basic components of education in values. The present study has a mixed approach and exploratory scope, whose objective is to analyze the socio-emotional skills in adolescent secondary school students and their possible relationship with education in values. The analyzes confirm the internal consistency and construct validity of the applied instrument, its results demonstrate the need to implement dynamic and integrative teaching-learning processes to develop significant capacities and aptitudes, where socio-emotional skills are basic components of an education in values that guide the behavior of adolescents towards personal self-realization and social transformation.
