Abstract

Learning style is directly related to the strategies students uses to learn something. A way to understand it would be to think of learning style as the statistical average of all the strategies you use. Therefore, the major trends correspond to the most used strategies, but the existence of a statistical average does not prevent deviations, the fact that someone may be very visual, holistic or reflective does not prevent them from using auditory strategies in many cases or for specific tasks. Objective: Determine the learning strategies and styles used by fourth and fifth year students of medical science degrees, during the 2022-2023 academic year, emphasizing academic results. Methods: A descriptive and retrospective study was carried out on the relationship between strategies, learning styles and the quality of teaching. From the universe consisting of 108 students, a sample of 73 was determined, representing 67.5% of the universe. Theoretical and empirical research methods were used. Results: The learning strategies and styles used by students were identified, relating them to the academic results of the fourth year of the degree. Conclusions: The quality of the promotion achieved by the students can be considered satisfactory, because the majority of the evaluation results are located in the excellent and good categories. The information organization strategy and the kinesthetic learning style predominated. When applying Kolb's learning wheel, the reflective or assimilating type of student prevailed.
