This research addresses aspects of teacher professional development for university outreach at the Esmeralda Municipal University Center. It begins by diagnosing the main shortcomings of teachers involved in the comprehensive general education of students in the various programs offered at the Esmeralda Municipal University Center. The proposed strategy is structured in stages with theoretical and practical activities. Workshops are used as a means of professional development, which contributes to the continuous updating of actions that can be implemented through teacher outreach. The objective is to develop a strategy to contribute to teacher development for university outreach. The theoretical, empirical, and mathematical-statistical methods employed allowed us to decode the background and theoretical framework of professional development from the perspective of university outreach and to identify the main regularities and difficulties in the theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects that demonstrate teachers insufficient knowledge of the elements required by the university outreach process, limiting their performance at the Esmeralda Municipal University Center as highly qualified individuals in their field of activity and transformative agents of their environment. This research constitutes an experience that connotes its significance for the transversal treatment of university outreach from the perspective of professional development for teachers at the Esmeralda Municipal University Center
