Cuban pedagogical history is the result of a long process in which personalities, in each historical moment, gave their best in the forging of identity and nationality. It is known of the existence of outstanding local figures who stood out, not only in the teaching praxis, but also in the theoretical field, which have not been the object of research. The objective of the article is to reveal the main contributions to education and Cuban pedagogical thought of Dr. Reinaldo Acosta Medina. The research was carried out on a dialectical-materialist basis and theoretical and empirical methods were used. His contributions are related to the study of the mother tongue, with emphasis on the Work With Spelling And Writing And With The Didactics To Work With Marti's Work And Its interpretation, theoretical, methodological and practical contributions, put in function of the learners of the different educations, educators, researchers, students in formation, historians, members of the José Martí Cultural Society and the community in general to enrich the cultural and ideological political heritage. These have been disseminated in the Reinaldo Acosta Medina Honorary Chair of the University Center of San Cristobal and in the Martí Chair.
