Abstract

The study that gave rise to this article was conducted with the objective of determining the impact of school leadership on student learning outcomes in primary and secondary educational institutions within District 08-05, Santiago de los Caballeros, based on teachers' perceptions. This research is significant as it allows for the identification of the skills, abilities, and competencies that school principals possess in relation to the influence their leadership has on student learning. The study followed a quantitative approach with a descriptive-correlational design. Data collection was carried out through surveys, using a structured questionnaire as the instrument. The study population consisted of 134 teachers from 10 schools in Region 08, District 05 of Santiago, who teach at the upper primary and secondary levels. Among the most relevant findings, it was noted that principals encourage students to become familiar with the school’s mission. The majority of teachers reported that principals consistently involve students and families in setting and achieving learning goals. Furthermore, teachers indicated that school leaders manage the distribution of educational materials to support learning. However, they also noted that principals only occasionally provide direct support during classroom instruction. A significant proportion of respondents perceived a direct relationship between principal leadership and student learning outcomes. The findings underscore that ongoing support and involvement from school leaders are essential to improving educational results.
