Abstract

This study investigates the use of ChatGPT as a tool to improve the learning of mathematical functions among second-year high school students at Unidad Educativa Fiscal "Fanny de Baird" in Ecuador. The research is based on the premise that technology, particularly artificial intelligence, can provide personalized, real-time support that adapts to the pace and learning style of students, thus enhancing their comprehension and motivation. A quantitative approach with an experimental design was employed, where 28 students were divided into control and experimental groups. Data collection included questionnaires and academic performance tests, applied before and after the intervention with ChatGPT. The proposed hypotheses suggest that using this technological tool will significantly improve both the students' academic performance and their perception of the learning process. Preliminary results indicate that ChatGPT not only contributes to the understanding of mathematical functions but also fosters greater interaction and satisfaction in the educational process. This study offers a valuable contribution to the field of education, opening new opportunities for the integration of technologies in the teaching of mathematics.
