Abstract

Literacy is a concept referring to the complex process of reading and writing, where reading is the ability to decode and understand written content and writing is the ability to formulate ideas and thoughts in written form, hence its importance in facilitating access. to knowledge, and constitutes an essential pillar in the teaching-learning process. It demands innovative teaching strategies to encourage learning in an effective and motivating way, which includes digital tools such as Wordwall, considering that reading and writing correctly is crucial for success in formal education and in the labor market. The objective of this work is to develop a teaching strategy with the digital tool Wordwall to strengthen literacy in the subject of Language and Literature in eighth-year EGB students, from the Millennium Sigchos Educational Unit. A mixed approach methodology was used, with an exploratory and descriptive scope. Instruments were applied to obtain an initial diagnosis identifying specific literacy problems, focused on understanding the meaning of the text, writing, grammar and spelling. The instrument applied to teachers of the subject of Language and Literature highlights the importance of reading and writing as it promotes skills in students such as: critical thinking, love for reading and writing, in addition to improving their academic performance. The participating experts agreed on the need and viability of the teaching strategy developed with the use of educational ICT.
