Abstract

The problems that currently affect the environment on the planet are increasingly serious and cause concern to all humanity and are characterized by a process of aggravation on a global scale. Therefore, it is necessary that the educational process guarantees a conscious, specific and developmental learning, which allows raising the perception of students, teachers and the community in general about the environmental dimension. The objective of this study is to explore the implementation of environmental education in the practice of educators at the Municipal University Center of Cumanayagua. A survey was designed, validated and applied to 44 teachers using the Likert scale. Twenty-one variables grouped in four dimensions were considered: Teaching, Training, Community Work and Improvement.  It was determined that there are no significant differences in the implementation of environmental education among the careers by the teachers, that the Global Index is not favorable and that the performance can be improved through improvement.  The results obtained allow establishing actions to contribute to the achievement of practices in accordance with the demands of the present century among students, teachers and other stakeholders in the locality.
