Abstract

This research analyzes the influence of teacher evaluation on the quality of teaching in master's programs in Ecuador, considering its impact on pedagogical performance, educators' professional development, and student learning outcomes. Using a mixed approach, information was collected through surveys, interviews, classroom observations, and documentary analysis at five accredited universities. Higher education institutions conduct regular teacher evaluations, promoting innovative pedagogical practices and improving student perception of educational quality. In addition, these evaluations contribute to the strengthening of teacher training programs and the adoption of educational technologies, resulting in an improvement in the use of active teaching strategies. However, the need for more equitable and contextualized evaluation criteria, as well as ensuring that evaluations are perceived as fair and oriented toward professional development, is an alarm that must be addressed. Without a doubt, teacher evaluation is an essential tool to optimize the quality of postgraduate teaching, provided that it is implemented in a transparent and participatory manner, promoting a culture of continuous improvement in higher education institutions.
