Abstract

This study analyzes the educational practices of medical interns in the Surgical Ward 1 of the Hospital General Guasmo Sur of Guayaquil, with the objective of evaluating their performance and the impact of teaching in a hospital environment. For this purpose, an observational and descriptive methodology was used, combining direct records, semi-structured interviews and questionnaires to evaluate the acquisition of knowledge and skills. The main findings reveal that teaching in the operating room is not limited to knowledge transfer, but becomes a process of co-construction of learning, where observation, supervision and collaborative practice play a key role. An improvement in the safety and confidence of the interns in clinical decision making was observed. It is concluded that the study demonstrates the importance of experiential learning and suggests strengthening pedagogical strategies based on bioeducation to improve the training of future physicians.
