Promotion of mental health from community education: interdisciplinary intervention
Keywords:
Community mental health, interdisciplinary intervention, health educationAbstract
The present study aims to analyze the impact of interdisciplinary interventions in community mental health in Latin America, with emphasis on the experience developed in El Cambio Parish, Ecuador. An integrative, systematic and critical bibliographic review methodology was applied, based on academic sources from 2019 to 2024, extracted from databases such as SciELO, PubMed, Scopus and Redalyc. The findings show that the articulation between clinical psychology, community nursing and imaging allows psychosocial discomfort to be addressed from a biopsychosocial approach, reducing stigma, expanding access to early diagnosis and strengthening community networks. The discussion highlights that the most effective models integrate clinical, educational and cultural knowledge through participatory methodologies adapted to the territory. It is concluded that the interdisciplinary approach not only improves the coverage and quality of care, but also empowers communities and transforms traditional care logic. However, challenges persist such as poor institutionalization, lack of interprofessional training and fragmentation of services. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen inclusive public policies, promote alliances between universities and communities, systematize successful experiences and promote interprofessional education. This research contributes to the construction of a replicable and culturally relevant model for the promotion of mental health in vulnerable contexts.Downloads
