Abstract

Biological commemorations can contribute to the comprehensive general culture in the training of Biology teachers, as they hold great potential for fostering the development of fundamental values and attitudes among undergraduate students in Biology Education at the Agrarian University of Havana. The objective of the research was to propose a classification of biological commemorations that facilitates their pedagogical use in promoting a comprehensive general culture during the training of Biology teachers. For the development of the study, various information collection and processing methods were employed, including document review, surveys, interviews, observation, analytical-synthetic, deductive-demonstrative, and historical-systematization analyses, among others. Statistical and mathematical methods were also applied. The study population consisted of seven professors and fifty-one students. The proposal was evaluated by experts, who deemed it highly relevant, and it enabled students to strengthen their preparation as future education professionals. They explored other areas of knowledge and engaged in research and practical activities that led to adeeper understanding of biological commemorations. It is concluded that, within the educational field, biological commemorations possess great pedagogical and didactic potential. They serve as a valuable tool for connecting previously acquired knowledge with the construction of new understanding.
