Abstract

This research analyzed the relationship between gamification and active participation in Collaborative Online International Learning environments by evaluating interactive e-learning platforms applied to the training of social communicators at a public university in Guayaquil. The study arose from the need to strengthen academic interaction, intercultural communication, and student engagement within technology-mediated international virtual experiences. The methodology was developed using a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, descriptive-correlational design. The population consisted of 2,850 students, and the sample comprised 339 participants selected using a formula for finite populations. The data collection technique was a survey, and the instrument used was a structured questionnaire with a Likert scale. Statistical analysis was performed using the JAMOVI software, applying descriptive, correlational, and preliminary structural analyses. The results showed a strong positive relationship between gamification and active participation, with the dimensions related to digital collaboration, academic interaction, and intercultural communication reaching the highest levels of association. Furthermore, it was observed that gamified dynamics significantly enhanced student participation within international collaborative virtual environments. It was concluded that interactive e-learning platforms constituted strategic tools for strengthening digital educational internationalization processes and the development of communication skills in multicultural contexts.
