Shared ownership and educational support in situations of family separation

Abstract

In recent years, family separation and shared ownership or shared custody processes have become common. There are several investigations that address the topic due to the different situations that arise in these processes, where the main focus becomes the future development of the child. Children can be the most affected in situations of separation, with emphasis on those cases where there is no correct communication and collaboration between parents for the education of their children. The research carries out a review of several studies on the subject and takes into account the analysis of the situations presented in twelve families that are part of the study. It also offers a critical and reflective vision on the important clinical and legal implications surrounding shared ownership, in the field of parenting and family psychology. The results show the need to achieve adequate communication between parents and, in turn, with the school, to guarantee the adequate development of their children, so that there are no effects on their personal relationships and, in turn, on their academic results during their learning. . Educational institutions constitute a primary center for the treatment of children, the development of communication and family care issues and actions aimed at caring for children, in a balanced manner by both parents, in order to achieve adequate personality development of the child.
