Educational perspectives in bone regeneration: interventions for cleft lip and palate patients
Keywords:
Higher education, cleft palate, maxillary expansionAbstract
Bone regeneration training is essential in postgraduate dental and maxillofacial surgery programs, especially to address cleft lip and palate cases. Teaching should integrate both clinical aspects and the latest regenerative techniques, encouraging interdisciplinary learning. To review the literature on bone regenerative interventions in cleft lip and palate patients, identifying the most effective approaches and proposing improvements in educational training. A comprehensive literature review was conducted in scientific databases between 2016 and 2024, selecting studies related to bone regeneration in cleft palate patients. From 305 initial studies, 20 were selected that highlighted the effectiveness of autologous bone grafts and PRP. Factors such as age and cleft type were determinants of post-surgical outcomes. Education in bone regeneration should include personalized approaches and the use of advanced techniques such as tissue engineering, preparing practitioners to optimize outcomes in patients with clefts.
