Educational innovation, a need for Higher Education for contemporary society

In the current complex scenario, universities as a subject of training actions, where academic, research and extension are programmed and established in a systematic way; oriented in their interaction to the positive transformation of society, demand a path of higher education that transcends the limits that conventionally establish their contexts and the urgent need to follow is educational innovation. Facing the relationship between educational innovation and university social responsibility based on sustainable integral development, constitutes an urgent demand and one of the transcendental challenges to achieve in Higher Education, which aspires to provide quality education for all. How can universities address the process of educational innovation? served as a framework to raise the work presented, is theoretically and methodologically based on educational innovation, offers in its foundations how to address the process and the fundamental elements to achieve its concretion from universities. To this end, methods of analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, historical-logical, review of documents and an important bibliographic search of the latest results on the subject were used, thus ensuring its scientificity for its application in practice. The results of the methodological work are significant in the contextualization of the innovative approach to the disciplines that make up the careers, the design of their own, optional and elective curricula; as well as their transversalization in each of the processes of the training of education professionals. Educational innovation must demonstrate real possibilities of application and generalization in response to the needs of society.
