The transition to college represents a critical period for health due to changes in lifestyle and a sedentary academic environment. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between body mass and physical activity among 280 obstetrics students at the University of Guayaquil in 2022. A quantitative, descriptive, and correlational methodology was employed, using the IPAQ questionnaire and anthropometric measurements (BMI) under a probabilistic sampling design. The results revealed that 57.86% of the students were of normal weight, although a concerning 24.30% were overweight. Regarding physical activity, 84.64% were classified as inactive, with an average energy expenditure of 530 MET-min/week. It is concluded that there is no statistically significant relationship between BMI and physical activity level (p > 0.05), suggesting that nutritional status is influenced by multiple factors in addition to exercise
