Abstract

A typical situation that occurs in companies with inadequate inventory management models is that they generally have excessive stock of items that are not sold or consumed, and little to none of the items that are sold or consumed. Therefore, it is vital for the functioning and development of the business to have a proper understanding of inventory management models that allow for maintaining optimal stock levels. This situation leads to establishing the objective of this research: to determine the educational needs of microenterprises involved in the sale of sports equipment in Santo Domingo Canton regarding inventory management models. The research employed a quali-quantitative model, using a non-experimental design with a cross-sectional nature to identify the educational needs regarding inventory management models used by microenterprises involved in sales. The types of research reflect the collection of information from primary and secondary sources. The methods and techniques considered aided in the analysis and interpretation of the data, as well as the structure of the inventory management and control model. The obtained results allow for determining the knowledge and importance of inventory management, as well as the finding that the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model is the most commonly used by microenterprises when making decisions, leading to the conclusion that there is a high level of empiricism in the management of non-perishable inventories in Santo Domingo Canton.
