Abstract

The objective of this study was to establish the influence of the organizational climate on the motivation and performance of teachers at a private university in Peru. This study was quantitative in approach, applied, with a non-experimental descriptive design, at an explanatory level. The sample was a census of 92 teachers from this institution. For data collection, three questionnaires were designed to evaluate each of the variables, the 30-item organizational climate questionnaire, the 18-item motivation questionnaire, and the 20-item job performance questionnaire. The questionnaires were validated according to the judgment of experts and reliability was obtained using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The results indicate regular levels in the variables organizational climate, motivation, and teacher performance with 38.04% (35), 42.39% (39), and 36.96% (34) respectively. It is concluded that there is a significant influence of the organizational climate on the motivation and job performance of teachers at a private university in Peru (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the Nagelkerke coefficient indicates that 63.2% and 45.3% of the instability in motivation and job performance are due, respectively, to the behaviour of the organisational climate of the institution in question. This shows that working conditions have a direct impact on the behaviour and effectiveness of academic staff.
